Matt Hawkins introduced IHSA Executive Director, Craig Anderson.

A new state series for the IHSA this year was Girls Flag Football, with over 150 schools participating.  The IHSA also celebrated 50  years of Boys Football last fall, with the state championships taking place at Hancock Stadium.  There is a proposal that the IHSA board is reviewing that would add 16 teams to each class's playoff bracket.  The top 16 seeded teams would receive a first-round bye.

The Girls Volleyball State Series also celebrated 50 years, which took place at CEFCU Arena last fall.

The IHSA has implemented a Transfer Management System, which helps managed transfer requests made to the IHSA.  There have been over 1,000 transfer requests over the past year, and this system helps streamline the evaluation process.  High school transfers are becoming a serious concern, with many athletes wishing to transfer similar to college students.

Other highlights include:
  • The IHSA has implemented a 35-second shot clock starting in the 2026-2027 school year.
  • The IHSA board will be reviewing potential changes to the classification for private schools.
  • The IHSA is also encouraging individuals to become officials.  There is a shortage of officials, and you're able to learn more and sign up at IHSA.org.
