  • Founded in 1860 in Hartford, Connecticut.
  • Operate on I-CARE values: Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence. These values are what leads the culture and defines who we are and what we do.
  • Been at current location on Illinois St. since 1993.
  • Launched “The Future is Me” campaign in 2021 to build a new facility. New location would allow us to serve 500 children/day at new club.
  • Have 3 satellite locations (PJHS, BJHS, First Christian Church) and are working with BHS for a potential 4th satellite location. Having the club within the schools allows them the benefits of the club and then also are able to participate in at-school clubs, activities, and athletics that transportation may have previously been an obstacle to.
  • Provide an all-day summer program as well as the after-school program during the school year for students between the age of 5-18.
  • Primary goal of the club is to try and position itself as the bridge between school and home.
  • 74% of our children are from single-parent and/or non-traditional homes.
  • 89% of our children qualify for free or reduced lunch.
  • 80% of our families are in the workforce, oftentimes underemployed.
  • Approximately 60% of the students are from District 87 and 40% from Unit 5.
  • We ask families to pay $25/school year to be part of the club but families aren’t turned away if they can’t pay.
  • In 2022: 1,667 youth served, 118,439 meals and countless snacks, 17,820 hours of homework help provided, 314 community engagement opportunities, 17 mental health referrals provided.
  • 53% of our income comes from individuals and businesses making an investment in the club and our kids.
  • It costs over $3,500 per child/school year for programs, services and staff. We ask our families to contribute $25/year.
  • Ways for community to get involved: Annual Golf Outing, Be Great Breakfast, In-Kind Donations, Volunteer, Blue Door Campaigns thru other community partners, Club ’92 Society (monthly reoccurring gift), Sponsor a classroom project or Friday Family Fun Night, Matching gifts from employers.
