Nick Lurkins introduced Gabe Judd, Chief Legal Officer, from High Haven. Gabe is local to Bloomington-Normal, and graduated from Augustana College.
High Haven has three locations in Illinois, including one in Normal. The location in Normal is the former Mandarin Garden building near The Shoppes at College Hills. There were a number of concerns from the community about that location, including traffic and parking. After a long process of approvals, a lawsuit, and construction issues, High Haven expects to start making a profit by the end of this month. High Haven is one of six dispensaries in Bloomington-Normal.
The state of Illinois now sees $2 billion in cannabis sales per year, bringing $500 million in tax revenue.
Studies now show that more Americans use cannabis than alcohol, and 70% of Americans believe cannabis should be decriminalized. There are currently five states that do not allow any type of cannabis or CBD products to be sold. The majority of states permit either adult recreation and/or cannabis to be sold.
