Committee Responsibilities

 

  • Attend club meetings of the Bloomington Kiwanis Club sponsored clubs as often as possible
    • Circle K Chapters

      • Tri-Valley High School
  • Aktion Club
  • Ability in Aktion Club of Bloomington

 

 

  • Support and provide guidance to clubs when needed

 

  • Promote Bloomington Kiwanis Club service opportunities as opportunities to partner
    • Circle K and Key Club members have supported us with the following events:
      • Town of Normal Sweet Corn Festival (August)
      • Marcus Wehrenberg Galaxy Cinema “Cans Film Festival” for the Salvation Army (December)
      • Pancake Days (February)
      • Mother’s Day Flower Sale (May)
    • Follow up as needed if CKI or Key Club members wish to volunteer at any of our events

 

  • Note the meeting dates that you attend and the number of hours spent each month supporting the club
    • Information should be submitted to Andria via e-mail by the end of each month

 

  • Communicate to the committee any financial support our club can provide
    • CKI Chapters, Key Clubs, and Aktion Club all have line items under the Community Projects budget:
      • CKI Chapters (ISU and IWU): $1,500.00
      • BHS Key Club: $150.00
      • Tri-Valley High School Key Club: $250.00
      • Aktion Club: $500.00
  • Needs can include the following:
      • Supporting clubs financially to complete a service project
      • Assisting in sending member or members to leadership training opportunities, conventions, or other Kiwanis events
    • Requests for funds from this line item must be submitted in writing and presented to the Bloomington Kiwanis Club board for approval
      • Board meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 11:15 a.m.
      • Please send any requests to Andria via e-mail so they can be shared with the board
      • Examples of past fund requests: Funds to purchase food items so club members could cook and serve dinner at the Salvation Army’s Safe Harbor homeless shelter (ISU CKI, $100.00 requested); funds to recognize CKI Lieutenant Governor in an ad for the I-I District CKI Convention (IWU CKI, $50.00 requested)

 

Reminders

  • You are welcome to attend club meetings of any of the clubs that we sponsor, not only the club that you serve as liaison to!
  • A minimum of (4) club members need to attend a meeting to qualify as an interclub.
  • The CKI chapters have a new member induction each fall and an officer installation ceremony each spring. The more Bloomington Kiwanis Club members that attend these special meetings, the merrier!
