                                                                                Camp Limberlost was founded in 1931 by the Bloomington Pantagraph. Starting in 1940, the Kiwanis Club of Bloomington assumed responsibility and complete sponsorship of the camp. This is the oldest continuous resident camp in the State of Illinois and the oldest continuous project in all of Kiwanis International.













Purpose
The Bloomington Kiwanis club provides this camp for children ages 8 through 10. It offers a flexible, nutritious, and enjoyable camping experience, emphasizing positive social interaction through involvement in a variety of activit
ies. 

 

 

 


 Goals
Each camper will:

Become aware of how their personal actions affect themselves and others within the camp community.

Develop skills in interpersonal relationships while gaining a sense of belonging with cabin groups and the larger camp community.

Develop an interest in various activities, which include games, archery, arts & crafts, swimming, canoeing, horseback riding and more.

Learn to know and respect people with a variety of cultural backgrounds.
Learn about other cultures around the world.


Facility
Presently our camp venue is the East Bay Camp at Lake Bloomington . The camp is operated by Methodist Church . Camp Limberlost has maintained a 4:1 camper-to-counselor ratio.
